RISE changes currently in place due to COVID-19

  • The high school GPA will not expire after 10 years.

  • Colleges may use the unweighted high school GPA from a United States high school regardless of graduation date.

  • This is currently in place. The RISE advisory board will determine if this remains the permanent policy.

Placement Testing

Curriculum courses at BCC require foundational skills in English, reading and math.  The Reinforced Instructions for Student Excellence (RISE) Placement Test is required to identify areas where remediation is needed, unless applicants meet one of the test exemptions.

Before Testing:

  1. Complete Residency Determination & the BCC Admissions Application
  2. Bring your BCC Student ID # & an Official Photo ID with first and last name (i.e. driver’s license, school, military, work ID or passport)
