To be considered for a scholarship, a student must complete the FAFSA. A scholarship committee composed of several faculty and staff members of Bladen Community College screen potential scholarship applicants to consider requests and make awards for the various scholarships available.
The Basic Skills Annual Scholarship
The Basic Skills department awards two scholarships annually. The recipients will be the student with the highest GPA in the Adult High School (AHS) program and the student with the highest GPA in the General Equivalency Diploma GED) program. The scholarships are activated upon registration in the semester immediately following their graduation.
The Bladen Community College Ambassador Annual Scholarship
The Bladen Community College Foundation awards scholarships annually to four students who display leadership ability and who will represent the college throughout the school year at various functions and activities. The scholarships provide for partial payment of tuition, books, and fees.
The Bladen Community College Faculty Senate Endowed Scholarship
The Faculty Senate awards one scholarship per year. This scholarship will pay for tuition, activity fees, and books for the fall and spring semesters.
The Bladen Community College Annual Foundation Merit Scholarship
The Bladen Community College Foundation board established the Foundation Merit Scholarship to be awarded to the rising second year student with the highest GPA. The Scholarship is awarded to help cover a portion of the tuition and fees for the student’s second year at BCC.
The Bladen County Commissioners Annual Scholarship
This scholarship, given annually from the Bladen County Commissioners, assists Bladen County students who are enrolled full time, with tuition, fees, and books.
The Bladen We Care Allied Health Endowed Scholarship
The Bladen We Care Allied Health Scholarship was given to provide scholarships annually to students enrolled in the Allied Health programs at Bladen Community College. The recipient of this Scholarship must commit to working in Bladen County upon graduation.
The Bladen We Care Associate Degree Nursing Endowed Scholarship
The Bladen We Care Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Scholarship was established to assist students in the Associate Degree Nursing program. In order to be considered the recipient must be enrolled as a full time student, demonstrate economic need and be a motivated learner. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is must be maintained.
The Bladen We Care UNCP Allied Health
The Bladen We Care UNCP Allied Health Scholarship was established to assist Bladen Community College Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) graduates who wish to further their education in the University of North Carolina NC Pembroke (UNCP) BSN Program.
The Houston & Irene Brisson Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of two of our area’s outstanding citizens, Houston and Irene Brisson, to assist high school graduates who are enrolled in a Nursing Program and have outstanding academic abilities and a need for financial assistance.
The Lee Anne & Carlton Bryan Information Technology Scholarship
The Lee Anne and Carlton Bryan Information Technology Scholarship was created to award deserving Information Technology curriculum students on the basis of need and academics. The recipient must be a resident of North Carolina, maintain a 3.5 GPA in the Information Technology curriculum program. The must be enrolled as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 semester hours.
The Robert C. Clark Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of former Clarkton native and Mayor, Robert C. Clark, who was dedicated to helping others throughout his life.
The Clark Brothers Endowed Scholarship
The Clark Brothers Scholarship was established by Manly, Giles, David, and Rogers Clark. It was established to assist high school graduates who have outstanding academic abilities and a need for financial assistance to further their goal of a college education.
The James B. Collins Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is given in memory by the family and friends of James B. Collins who passed away in the line of duty. A scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student enrolled in the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Program.
The Edward J. Cox Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was given by Ruth Cox Church in memory of her brother Mr. Edward J. Cox, who was a champion of education in Bladen County and one of the original Bladen Community College Trustees.
The Elizabethtown Rotary Club Annual Scholarship
The Elizabethtown Rotary Club is a voluntary organization made up of business and professional leaders who take an active role in their Communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. Encouraging high ethical standards and respect for all worthy vocations has been a hallmark of Rotary from its earliest days. The motto of Rotary is “Service above Self”. With this in mind, the Elizabethtown Rotary Club has established an annual scholarship of $500 to be given to a graduating senior at each high school.
The Alma Parker Farris Annual Scholarship
The Alma Parker Farris Scholarship was given by Ms. Farris to recognize a student who is seeking a degree in the business field. Preference will be given to a female student. This scholarship will be funded annually to cover tuition for the fall and spring semesters.
The Finn Swiim Endowed Scholarship
The Finn Swiim Endowed Scholarship was established by Ms. Tiina Mundy as the first Summer Scholarship at Bladen Community College. It was personally funded my Ms. Mundy who accepted a challenge to do a virtual swim the length of the Florida Keys. She wanted to do something to mark a personal milestone and to support the college. Ms. Mundy is the Human Resources Director at BCC. To qualify, the student must be enrolled in the summer semester taking 6-8 credit hours. The student is to be motivated and capable learner who has demonstrated economic need. It is hoped that the recipient will regard this scholarship as an obligation to make the most of their career goals and an opportunity to help others. The student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
The Four County EMC Scholarship
The Four County EMC Scholarship was established to give assistance to students who are residents of Bladen County and who maintain a 2.5 GPA.
The Golden LEAF Scholarship
| The Golden LEAF Scholars Program – Two-Year Colleges is funded through a grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 1999 to help transform North Carolina’s economy. The scholars program provides funds up to $750 per semester for curriculum students and up to $250 for occupational education students. Participating colleges may vary; therefore, students are encouraged to check with the financial aid office at their college to see if the college is taking part in the program. | |

The Hiram K. Hester Endowed Scholarship
The Hiram K. Hester Endowed was established in 2018 in memory of Mr. Hester by his wife, Micha Hester. To qualify for this scholarship the student must be enrolled full time, be motivated and demonstrate economic need. Preference will be given to a Bladenboro resident. In addition the student must demonstrate merit and commitment to furthering their education. The donor further stated that it is their desire for the recipient to model scholarship, leadership, and service in their own lives and serve as good models for future recipients. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA.
The Invest In Bladen Endowed Scholarship
The overall purpose of this fund is to expand educational opportunities for the citizens of Bladen County. This fund is primarily to be utilized as student assistance through scholarships, loans, and grants. Two faculty stipends for faculty teaching excellence.
The Lynn & Iris King Teaching Endowed Scholarship
The Lynn and Iris King Scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Lynn Grey King, Sr., a long time educator in Bladen County. Mr. King served as the second president of Bladen Community College from 1985 – 1997. This scholarship is to assist high school graduates who have outstanding academic abilities and a need for financial assistance to further their goal of a college education.
The Cecil W. McClure Endowed Scholarship
Cecelia Davis, in memory of her father, Cecil W. McClure, former welding instructor at Bladenboro High School, endowed a scholarship in his memory.
The Mike W. Merritt Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Mike W. Merritt who was a 1992 graduate of East Bladen High School and who at the time of his passing worked for the Town of White Lake and as a member of the White Lake Volunteer Fire Department. This scholarship embraces Mike’s belief that we are not just here to further our own ends, but are here to contribute to a larger purpose.
The Jeremy Thomas Moss 2nd Chance Welding Endowed Scholarship
The Jeremy Thomas Moss 2nd Chance Welding Endowed Scholarship was established by his family. Whereas Jeremy was given a “2nd Chance” it is the earnest desire that other students who struggle greatly be embraced, encouraged, and assisted with this scholarship. The family saw first hand the impact of a few had on Jeremy by giving him an opportunity to right himself and be hopeful for a bright future. Preference will be given to a Bladen County resident. The recipient must be a full time student in the welding program and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
The Charles Munn Jr. Endowed Scholarship
The Charles Munn Jr. Scholarship had been established to honor the memory of Charles Munn Jr., a deacon of Pleasant Union Baptist Church for over 42 years, Town Councilman of East Arcadia, and dedicated trustee of Bladen Community College.
The Louis & Louise Parker Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is given by the family of Louis F. Parker, a former member of the Bladen Community College Board of Trustees. Mr. Parker was one of the founding trustees and faithfully served the college until his death.
The Sam & Helen Kelly Parker Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship fund was established by Edward W. and Agnes Parker Najam of Bloomington, Indiana, in memory of Sam and Helen Kelly Parker, Mrs. Najam’s parents. Sam and Helen Parker were long time citizens of Elizabethtown and quite active in the city’s business and community life.
The James & Gladys Powell Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is given by the family of James R. Powell, a former member of the College Board of Trustees.
The Rust Enterprises Annual Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Kenneth and Lisa Rust of Rust Enterprises/McDonald’s for their employees to pursue a higher education. To qualify the following criteria must be met: Be a McDonald’s employee for a minimum of three months; Be working an average of 24 hours per week; Be either an entering Bladen Community College student, or presently enrolled; Submit a scholarship application with two letters of recommendation; Maintain a 2.0 grade point average; Be enrolled as a full time student, with a minimum of twelve hours; Continue enrollment for the duration of the scholarship; and be a motivated, capable learner who has a demonstrated economic need. The Mary Alice Scoggins Endowed Scholarship
The Mary Alice Scoggins Scholarship was established in memory or Mary Alice Scoggins for deserving students enrolled in the College Transfer Program at Bladen Community College.
The Star Telephone Annual Scholarship
The Star Telephone Membership Corporation Scholarship Program was established to assist high school graduates who have outstanding academic abilities and a need for financial assistance to further their goal of a college education.
State Employee and Credit Union Annual Scholarship
The State Employee Credit Union Foundation has established this two-year scholarship program to assist North Carolina Community College students achieve success.
The Wells Fargo Technical Annual Scholarship
The Wells Fargo Technical Scholarship is given by Wells Fargo to full-time students enrolled in the second year of a two-year educational/technical program and who demonstrate financial need and scholastic promise.
The Essic M. Williams Endowed Scholarship
The Essic M. Williams Endowed Scholarship was given in memory of Mr. Essic M. Williams by his family. Mr. Williams was a longtime Bladen County educator who served in many rolls in the Bladen County School System. At the time of his death, he had been chairman of the Bladen Community College Board of Trustees for 20 years. It is the donors hope that the recipient will consider this scholarship as an obligation to make the most of their education and in turn help others to reach their career goals as well. The recipient must be a full-time student and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
The David Yarborough Endowed Scholarship
The David F. Yarborough Endowed Scholarship was established in memory of David F. Yarborough for students in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. David had a sincere love and concern for people, and it is appropriate that this scholarship be awarded to students at Bladen Community College striving to achieve their Associate Degree in Nursing.
